Susan is a customer-focused business leader with experience across the transport, media and retail sectors in both finance and general management roles.

As Managing Director of National Express East Coast, Susan delivered step-change improvements in the areas of operational performance, customer service and retail innovation.

Prior to this role, Susan was Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive of National Express’ Rail Division, overseeing a portfolio of up to 9 TOCs and 8 rail bids.

Previously, as a chartered accountant, Susan joined the Leisure and Entertainment Group at the Rank Organisation, in the Corporate Finance Department, and led a large part of the Group’s M & A activity over a four year period. A move to the retailer Kingfisher Plc followed to take on the role of Director of Investor Relations. Susan subsequently spent four years as Financial Controller of Woolworths PLC, part of the Kingfisher Group, before joining the Bertelsmann Media Group (Five TV, RTL, Sony/BMG) where she held roles as Finance Director and CEO across a number of its mail order, publishing and e-commerce businesses.
